Illustration

I make calming, whimsical illustrations with a touch of poetry, inspired by nature, books, and folklore.
My biggest love is book illustration. In my personal work, I’m drawn to fantasy worlds with a spirit of “play.”
I always gravitate towardsink & watercolor, which feels like coming back home. But I will never tire of exploring different media: from colored pencils to oil pastels, foraged leaves, and clay.

the story of bluegrey illustrations
Picture a wanderer on a journey, walking through dream worlds or lost in the pages of a book — it’s a figure that often appears in my work.
Finding my way back to art was also a kind of journey. When I was little, I wanted to grow up to be “someone who draws.” Though it’s been a winding path, I finally picked up a sketchbook again sometime around 2019 as a way of coping with academic stress. And now it’s become a more significant part of my life than I could have ever hoped for. Always curious to experiment with new ways of expression, I value process over product in my everyday practice.
I have created illustrations of classic 19th-century novels for Audrey, an audiobook app fostering a bibliophile community. My art and photography have been featured in Cut+Paste Magazine (in Issue 06: Black & White, Issue 09: Woodland, Issue 10: Night Light, Issue 13: Everyday Objects, Issue 14: Fairytale, and Issue 15: “Nurture”), and The Mays Anthology.
My ongoing series include vignettes of the wandering herbologist, Altair the Fox, and 100 Creatures from Folklore.
Would you like to collaborate with me? I’d love to hear from you!

You can find prints of my work from my shop on INPRNT. Downloadable prints, coloring pages, and other goodies are available on Ko-Fi, where I sometimes sell prints and postcards, too. (Let me know if there’s a particular illustration you’d like to order.) Any support is deeply appreciated—it’s what keeps me going!
Practice any art, music, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, fiction, essays, reportage, no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming, to find out what’s inside you, to make your soul grow.
